The Objectives /Goals of our Martial Arts System for Self Defense Vancouver

This is a graphical representation of our Mixed Martial Arts Vancouver System showing the range and interconnectedness of each discipline.

The goals are specific.

1) Self-defense:

  • Armed
  • Unarmed

2) Physical Fitness:

  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Nutrition

3) Mental Discipline:

  • Self-confidence
  • Mental Focus/Concentration Power
  • Goal Achievement
  • Peace of mind, harmony, enlightenment

4) Combative Sport:

  • Muay Thai Kickboxing
  • Pankration/Mixed Martial Arts (M.M.A.)
  • Submission wrestling
  • Shootboxing
  • Weapons

There are a number of objectives in our system that can be obtained through diligent training. However, one of the primary goals is to be fluent with all types and ranges of combat. To simplify, our system is designed to develop kicking, punching, trapping, grappling, and weapons ranges. We use the combative arts as our vehicle towards self-improvement, character development, and ultimately enlightenment. It is a complete style – it can incorporate all styles. The arts we employ are varied and include Muay Thai Kickboxing, Submission Wrestling, Jujitsu, Karate, and various ancient and modern weapons. Our style is eclectic in technique, but traditional rituals and philosophies to help to instill s

pirit, respect, and martial virtue, but our techniques are designed to be the most effective to get the job done. Since technology improves, so does our system. It grows and adapts.

Ultimately we use the martial concepts for their obvious and original purpose, and we use their meaning applied in our everyday lives. Our objectives sometimes develop separately, but usually they develop concurrently. For example, the act of getting physically fit using our Martial Arts System will concurrently develop self-defense and mental discipline.

All areas of physical fitness are developed by training in our system of the Martial Arts:

5) Muscular strength

  • Developed by dynamic tension and resistance/weight training

6) Muscular endurance

  • Developed through techniques repetition and performance

7) Cardio-vascular fitness

  • Developed by continuous performance
  • Anaerobic and Aerobic conditioning

8) Flexibility

  • Developed by static, ballistic and isometric stretches and leg extension drills
  • Neck and back flexibility for wrestling and jiu-jitsu

9) Nutrition

  • Basic concepts provided in this manual and expanded through inquiry

Furthermore, by diligently improving in these areas, spirit and discipline are enhanced.

All areas should be developed by training with energy and awareness.

The benefits of Mental Discipline are often less tangible objectively, but often are the most important subjectively (to you). The benefits of increased self-confidence, improved concentration, focus, mental power, and goal achievement are bestowed on the dedicated student who trains with the proper mind set. If you constantly do your best with a positive attitude and resolute spirit results are guaranteed. You reap what you sow.

The sport or competitive aspects is not mandatory for advancement in rank because Martial Arts are primarily concerned with self-defense and character development, but competition can definitely make a student more technically polished, thereby improving overall Martial p

ower. Therefore, competition is valued and rewarded both intrinsically, through satisfaction of goal achievement and bolstered self-confidence, and externally, through trophies, awards, and recognition.
