Another great event last night: Chris Kats, a 9 year old earmarked for success, who hasn’t been doing Muay Thai for very long and doing more mma, did an excellent, impressive muay thai demo fight. Joe Halfar is the NEW Canadian Super middleweight champion after being awarded a 5 round split decision victory over a tough opponent from the famous Tri-Star gym in Montreal. Jonas Kwiatkowski is the NEW BC Heavy Weight Muay Thai Champion after dominating a tough and good opponent from Williams Lake 50-45, 50-45 and 50-45. This was a good experience for all involved. I hope everyone learns, improves, keeps the drive alive, and continues to make progress.

Joe Halfar winning the Canadian title earns him his 3rd title belt. He is a highly conditioned athlete and has come a long way in his training. He also runs his own successful Painting and Renovation company, Pro-Rise Painting and Renovation. So, Joe has done well in dividing his time between training, running his company and having a successful relationship. Joe understands challenges come in many forms and I wish him well in his continued pursuit of excellence in the ring and out.

Jonas Kwiatkowski wins the BC Title wins his first title belt as the BC Heavy Weight Champion. Jonas is big, towering in at 6 ‘5″, and in shape, ¬†and highly skilled. He has been training for a long time and he dominated this fight clearly. The opponent was tough, without question, however Jonas’s skill was superlative. Jonas is now studying to be a doctor and is continuing his medical studies in Krakow, Poland. Jonas is a brown belt in our style and his brother is a black belt in our style of Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver. Both Jonas and Martin came back to Vancouver in the holidays to continue their training and testing. I look forward to seeing them soon.

Next week Kevin Lam, who has a lot of potential, is up for his second Muay Thai fight this Saturday at the Fraserview Hall. Tickets are available. I am looking forward to it; as well as the continued progress of ‘all’ the students. This is what we are and this is what we do; progress and improve :). Let me know, if you have questions. OSU!
