Here is Francis’ rendition of his first fight with a nice rendition for Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver:
This is what Francis wrote on Facebook about his debut. I think it is inspirational, insightful and beneficial to other students at Posener’s Pankration/MMA and Muay Thai and part of our Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver program.
My Muay thai Debut 3 yrs ago. My very first time stepping into the ring. Wow what an experience, a feeling I will never forget. The spotlight, the cheers, the music… surreal. I remember this fight the most from all the rest, because this was the very first time I was tested physically, mentally and spritually to my limits. I was hit with big shots, knees, punches and kicks. It hurt but I did not break. I perservered, fought on, pressured as far as my body and spirit could take me. I rocked him with an over hand right as his back is against the ropes, bobbing and weaving almost landing the knock down. The final bell rings. The fight is over. I stand there with my hand raised edging out a split decision win against a bigger and taller opponent. What a euphoric feeling. A natural high, a rush of emotions, the feeling of victory. All those early morning runs, those gruesome workouts, the hard sparring sessions. Ahh my training has paid off; and I have won. I am here taking it all in, absorbing every bit of this moment as I know this moment will never come again. There may be similar ones but never the same. I bathe in it; for I can rest now. I have earned it. But only for a while because in time I know I will crave and thirst for it again.
On the path to greatnest one must believe with all of his heart that he is invincible and with a clear mind know that he is not.
Stay humble, train hard, believe in yourself and always follow your heart my friends. Love is the way. Osu
