At Mamba Fight Night 2 on October 24 ’15 Francis Tiapis wins by KO at the 36 second mark of the 1st round by a left hook against a tough well schooled opponent. After landing a couple of low kicks against the taller, heavier opponent, the opportunity came for Francis to land a left hook counter, which landed cleanly and put his opponent down. We are proud of Francis’s hard work, dedication, and teamwork. He is very excited to win his MMA debut and he is looking forward to more exciting challenges.

Vancouver’s ultimate Submission Wrestling training for: Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Self Defense, Fitness, Mental Discipline and Sport.

Our Submission Wrestling classes utilize techniques adapted from free-style wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu – BJJ Vancouver, “Catch-as-catch-can” (Folk American wrestling), Catch Wrestling, Shoot wrestling, Sambo, and Judo. These techniques are modified to be applicable for Pankration, MMA fighting (Mixed Martial Arts) and Submission wrestling as a sport. Our submission wrestling classes are a subsection of our Pankration curriculum.

It is the blending of our striking within the grappling context that makes our style unique and distinctive.
Whether it is the blending of striking and grappling to and from clinching, to take-downs, to ground fighting with submissions, our style is geared towards practicality.

Francis Tiapis, Gio Platon and Miguel Beleno just finished their last training session in preparation for their upcoming fights on Saturday October 24 ’15 at Mamba Fight Night in Abbotsford. Francis Tiapis will be doing MMA and Miguel Beleno and Gio Platon will be doing Muay Thai Kickboxing. They have trained hard, they are excited and they are prepared for their best fight and victory! I hope you can come out and support. It is great to see the progress, challenge and excitement.

Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver program is based on Muay Thai Kickboxing, mainly, and some Jiu-Jitsu to enhance the self defense aspect of the curriculum. People train in the class with the goal of developing the benefits of Fitness, Self defense skills, Mental Discipline and for Sport. All types of people enjoy our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing program, both recreational and serious practitioners.

We offer a 10 level based system to impart skills and reward progress. Certificates are awarded to recognize individual progress. Advancement in the program, if that is desired,  is based on performance and attendance. In the initial stages attendance is given more importance than performance, as we are in the process of developing and installing new training habits and lifestyle changes. Since martial arts is an individual pursuit, we encourage everyone to work at their own pace to the best of their ability. At the higher levels and, as a person progresses in skill, fitness and experience, a greater adaptability and integration of technique is  required and rewarded.

Our self defense component of the program incorporates Muay thai Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu to learn defenses from various grabs and strikes, which are a part of the curriculum, although to a lesser degree. This is a unique aspect of our course.

It is expected, as someone progresses through our program that their fitness will approach peak levels for that individual. As everyone is different, peak levels will be variable but progress is required and strong levels should be maintained.

After a student progresses through the 10 levels of skill and personal development for Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver, instructor level certifications are possible. Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing classes are a great way to get and stay in shape, have fun and work well with the other classes we have at the school.

So we just got back from Las Vegas. Adam got 2nd place in the kids 10- 12 years expert No GI Grappling Division. This was our first time at this tournament and was a good experience on a number of levels. Adam was disappointed in not getting the belt but he is excited for the next opportunity, which is upcoming. Adam got a bye into the second round because he was the youngest in the division. In his second round match he won by arm bar from the guard in under a minute. In the Gold belt match Adam was up on points for most of the match. Adam achieved the mount and went for an armbar a little bit early and his opponent started to attack. Adam defended a couple of submissions well including the final triangle, which went on for a minute or so and the match ended with about 3 seconds left. After some time and some re framing and enhanced perspective was achieved and really still being developed. It was fun, interesting and challenging moving up… Till next time.. OSU!
