Francis Tiapis – Red, Minna Kim – Red, Sanjay Kajal – Brown, Jimmy Kajal – Brown, Gio Platon – Purple, Lance Kawi – Blue, Chris Toews – Blue, Edmond Lin – Blue, Richard Ronquillo – Green, Linh Thuy Diep – Orange, Adam Posener – Orange, Kenny Lai – Orange,  Naoufal Moudan – Orange, Oliver White – Yellow, Stanislav Kokshin – Yellow, and Washington Filho – Yellow.

 

It was a good test, display of energy, spirit and technique and a milestone of progress.

 

It may be noted that some students received an extra advancement and to avoid misinterpretation, I would like to explain some traditional and current concepts of testing. In the traditional context, regardless of particular style, martial arts and testing is designed to promote individual skill, progress and personal development.  The belt system is a relatively recent tool in martial arts where previously there was white belt and black belt. The color belts are designed to be motivational tools to mark progress and to provide feedback. In our style progress is considered individually.

 

In Muay Thai, in particular testing is even more recent, relatively speaking. As a close trainer would say, ” You train, You fight”. The belt system helped to develop and describe  levels of fighting. For example the blue level was an amateur entry level of fighting in the ring and a black level was a professional level. However, to take into consideration that many students do not want to ring fight in Muay Thai in a very competitive way due to a variety of reason, modifications have been employed for the greater transmission of benefits.

 

As a teacher with the goal of maximizing student progress the motivational tools of testing can be adjusted. After  almost 39 years of practice and almost 29 years of full time teaching and with consideration of a number of items, some students have received a grade that is more reflective of their time, energy, skill and current development. Remember, the main goal, as a start, is black belt. Color belts are tools for the main first goal. The description above is general and has been applied to the individual. For example for some individuals extra time in training has been considered positively and for some ring fighting success, championships and application into mma has been considered, and for some age and skill in Pankration/MMA has been considered, and there are other issues that do not require excessive elaboration, at this time. Special Congratulations to Sanjay Kajal on achieving his Level 10 Certification after about 7 years in our program. Sanjay is always trying his best, is in excellent physical condition, trains with discipline and consistency,  and has an excellent understanding of the skills. He can help others achieve their best and continue to improve upon his skills and fitness.

Here is some information on our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver program and the level system:

 

Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver program is based on Muay Thai Kickboxing, mainly, and some Jiu-Jitsu to enhance the self defense aspect of the curriculum. People train in the class with the goal of developing the benefits of Fitness, Self defense skills, Mental Discipline and for Sport. All types of people enjoy our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing program, both recreational and serious practitioners.

 

 

We offer a 10 level based system to impart skills and reward progress. Certificates are awarded to recognize individual progress. Advancement in the program, if that is desired,  is based on performance and attendance. In the initial stages attendance is given more importance than performance, as we are in the process of developing and installing new training habits and lifestyle changes. Since martial arts is an individual pursuit, we encourage everyone to work at their own pace to the best of their ability. At the higher levels and, as a person progresses in skill, fitness and experience, a greater adaptability and integration of technique is  required and rewarded.

 

 

Our self defense component of the program incorporates Muay thai Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu to learn defenses from various grabs and strikes, which are a part of the curriculum, although to a lesser degree. This is a unique aspect of our course.

 

 

It is expected, as someone progresses through our program that their fitness will approach peak levels for that individual. As everyone is different, peak levels will be variable but progress is required and strong levels should be maintained.

 

 

After a student progresses through the 10 levels of skill and personal development for Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver, instructor level certifications are possible. Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing classes are a great way to get and stay in shape, have fun and work well with the other classes we have at the school.

All versus All (AVA) BJJ, Kickboxing and MMA Tournament Results: Adam Posener – Gold in MMA; 2 fights one RNC and one Armbar finish (first MMA tournament), Ayden Arnold: Gold in No Gi and Silver in Gi (Budo), Rachel Hofer – Silver in Kickboxing and Silver in MMA; She did very well and competed against bigger women, 20 and 26 pounds heavier, Rodean Nazari – Gold in Gi (Hayden)  and Gold in No Gi, Artin Nazari – Silver in Gi ( Hayden), Silver in No Gi, and Gold in No Gi ( extra division); lots of matches for all competitors in Grappling, Antonio Costantino: Gold in Gi (Hayden), Silver in No Gi, Tabitha Tam: Bronze in No Gi, Emini Arnold Bronze in No Gi. ( Both Emini and Tabitha started competition this last weekend.

Here is some information on our Submission Wrestling/ No Gi and MMA program:

 

 

Vancouver’s ultimate Submission Wrestling training for: Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Self Defense, Fitness, Mental Discipline and Sport.

Our Submission Wrestling classes utilize techniques adapted from free-style wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu – BJJ Vancouver, “Catch-as-catch-can” (Folk American wrestling), Catch Wrestling, Shoot wrestling, Sambo, and Judo. These techniques are modified to be applicable for Pankration, MMA fighting (Mixed Martial Arts) and Submission wrestling as a sport. Our submission wrestling classes are a subsection of our Pankration curriculum.

It is the blending of our striking within the grappling context that makes our style unique and distinctive.
Whether it is the blending of striking and grappling to and from clinching, to take-downs, to ground fighting with submissions, our style is geared towards practicality.

Since our style and curriculum has a broad range of techniques, the individual student has the ability and potential to express their skills to the fullest degree.

Our classes provide an excellent physical workout developing muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio vascular fitness and flexibility. In the process of training and getting in great shape, the student will be learning techniques that are useful for self-defence and sport.

Our classes are taught by experienced martial artists emphasizing discipline and respect with the aim of helping the student achieve their goals while enjoying the process and developing camaraderie. Many of the students and instructors have been successful using the school’s style in pankration/mixed martial arts and submission wrestling competition.
