Gio Platon wins his second MMA bout at BFL by 1st round KO at the Vancouver Convention Center. Gio was exceptionally prepared mentally and physically. The initial moments of the fight had some exchanges and take down attempts by Casey, which were defended, and then Gio landed some good shots and finished the fight. Since the fight only lasted about 30 seconds, there is not a long play by play description for this one. 🙂

He is certainly looking forward to future challenges in MMA, Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu. It was a pleasure to coach and thank you to George Kassimatis for coaching also. We also thank our awesome instructor team and training partners at Posener’s Pankration/ MMA Vancouver for their help and support; Costa Rojas, Francis Tiapis, Victor Tiapis, Franco Palines, Kevin Lam, Emilio Ditrocchio, Chris Toews, Gus Rodriquez, and more.

Our Submission Wrestling classes utilize techniques adapted from free-style wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu – BJJ Vancouver, “Catch-as-catch-can” (Folk American wrestling), Catch Wrestling, Shoot wrestling, Sambo, and Judo. These techniques are modified to be applicable for Pankration, MMA fighting (Mixed Martial Arts) and Submission wrestling as a sport. Our submission wrestling classes are a subsection of our Pankration curriculum.

It is the blending of our striking within the grappling context that makes our style unique and distinctive.
Whether it is the blending of striking and grappling to and from clinching, to take-downs, to ground fighting with submissions, our style is geared towards practicality.

Since our style and curriculum has a broad range of techniques, the individual student has the ability and potential to express their skills to the fullest degree.

Our classes provide an excellent physical workout developing muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio vascular fitness and flexibility. In the process of training and getting in great shape, the student will be learning techniques that are useful for self-defence and sport.

Our classes are taught by experienced martial artists emphasizing discipline and respect with the aim of helping the student achieve their goals while enjoying the process and developing camaraderie. Many of the students and instructors have been successful using the school’s style in pankration/mixed martial arts and submission wrestling competition.

Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver program is based on Muay Thai Kickboxing, mainly, and some Jiu-Jitsu to enhance the self defense aspect of the curriculum. People train in the class with the goal of developing the benefits of Fitness, Self defense skills, Mental Discipline and for Sport. All types of people enjoy our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing program, both recreational and serious practitioners.

We offer a 10 level based system to impart skills and reward progress. Certificates are awarded to recognize individual progress. Advancement in the program, if that is desired,  is based on performance and attendance. In the initial stages attendance is given more importance than performance, as we are in the process of developing and installing new training habits and lifestyle changes. Since martial arts is an individual pursuit, we encourage everyone to work at their own pace to the best of their ability. At the higher levels and, as a person progresses in skill, fitness and experience, a greater adaptability and integration of technique is  required and rewarded.

Our self defense component of the program incorporates Muay thai Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu to learn defenses from various grabs and strikes, which are a part of the curriculum, although to a lesser degree. This is a unique aspect of our course.

It is expected, as someone progresses through our program that their fitness will approach peak levels for that individual. As everyone is different, peak levels will be variable but progress is required and strong levels should be maintained.

After a student progresses through the 10 levels of skill and personal development for Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing Vancouver, instructor level certifications are possible. Our Cardio Muay Thai Kickboxing classes are a great way to get and stay in shape, have fun and work well with the other classes we have at the school.

Beginners and all fitness levels are welcome.

Very disappointing: Chris Toews trained very hard and was well prepared but no one was in his division and no one wanted to set up for him. As a positive, Chris has decided to step up and take a fight in Ohio in the Sanshou International Tournament.

Congratulations for Lance Kawi for competing in a tough division and fighting hard and losing a close decision. Special thank you to Gus Rodriquez and Paul Palines for coaching and supporting Lance.

With special attention given to motor skill development, mental focusing attributes, and children’s inherent capabilities. Youth kickboxing Vancouver Children’s and Teen classes are designed to emphasize:

The development of these qualities and principals are given extra attention because they build a strong foundation in the three battles: the Mind, the Body, and the Spirit.If developed properly, then success is assured.

Here are are results from the Copa Katana BJJ tournament held in Richmond, B.C. on Saturday April 15 ’17. Rodean Nazari –  His 1st double gold. Gold in Gi and Gold in No Gi, Ayden Arnold – Gold in No Gi and bronze in Gi (Budo ) ,  Artin Nazari – Gold in No Gi and Silver in Gi, Honorable mention to Ernesto Lepore moving up to the Advanced Expert Division and challenging himself. This can be a stimulation for him to keep progressing to the next level and learning that patience, persistence and consistency help the program. This was certainly a challenging event and a good experience to learn from and continue to make progress.

One of my clients, Anthony Kronshage, 30 years old. We met Jan.4 2016 with a starting weight of 335lbs! That was 15 months ago. We are now down to 215lbs!!! That’s 120lbs in just over a year (April 2017). He started with me doing 2 one hour sessions and a one hour bootcamp session. After 6 months of that routine we split it into 4 half hour sessions.

He has continued with the one hour boot camp as well and keeps on pushing harder and harder every session! Good job Mr. Anthony!!!

 

Anthony is currently training for a half marathon in September, thats a 22km run with a goal time of under 2 hours!!! not bad for a guy that was once well over 300 pounds!!!

Posener’s Fight Fit Boot Camp! A boot camp that takes the “FIT” in fitness to the next level! From a new Mom to the avid sports enthusiast, Posener’s Fight Fit Boot camp will provide that extra push everyone needs to help get them the results they want. Posener’s Fight Fit Boot Camp will consist of a combination of high intensity functional movements, punching and kicking combinations using pads with a partner. As well as static (stationary) exercises that will increase muscular endurance while melting fat at the same time!

 

 

 

Posener’s Fight Fit Boot camp will be lead by ISSA Certified Personal Trainer Chris Toews. Chris is also a student of Posener’s Pankration/ MMA and a gold medalist in the art of San Shou (Chinese kickboxing) at the Tiger Balm International. With his love of the sport, winning attitude and fitness orientated lifestyle, who better to have push you than this guy!

If you’re looking for 60 minutes of change, change that will inspire you to push harder and FIGHT to be better, Posener’s Fight Fit Boot camp will be there… will you!
